1. Capacity development of the farmer leaders in medium irrigation schemes empowering them on participatory decision making
Date: 30th March 2017
Cap-Net Lanka partnered with Sri Lanka Water Partnership (SLWP) in conducting a one day training program on “Institutional and Management Capacity Development of Farmer Leaders in Medium Irrigation Schemes to cope with Climate Change” on the 30th March 2016. The programme was held at the Irrigation Engineer’s office in the North-western Provenience. About 60 farmer leaders and agency staff including 10 women actively participated in the programme. An Irrigation Agronomist/Crop Specialist, Irrigation Water Management Specialist and a Rain Water Harvesting Specialist served as resource persons.
Mr. Ranjith Ratnayake, Country Coordinator, SLWP coordinated the program.
2.Training Workshop on “Aqua Republica” the Computer game – A Virtual Watershed Management Game
15 no. of undergraduate students of the Faculty of Agriculture who are specializing in “Agricultural and Bio systems engineering” was trained at the Computer Unit of PGIA, University of Peradeniya anticipating to conduct a similar activity for the students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna. An IDRC SAWA Fellow served as a Resource Person for the workshop.
